As its name implies, the Le Mans Series is an international six-round championship set up for the prototype and GT cars that contest the world's most famous 24 hour showdown.
The highly-prized series only comes to Britain once a year and Silverstone plays host to what promises to be one of the highlights on the UK racing calendar. More so this year as the race will witness the UK debut of Peugeot's revolutionary new diesel-powered 908 with an all-star driver line-up spearheaded by former F1 world champ Jacques Villeneuve.
LMS runs to the same A.C.O technical regulations as the annual Gallic classic and, although all the races are run to a shorter 1000km format, they provide all the excitement and drama of top class endurance racing with refuelling pit stops and driver changes key to team strategy. As at Le Mans, the superlative line-up includes both out-and-out sports prototypes and race-prepared GT machines all battling for individual honours within their respective classes.
